The University of Wollongong Law Students' Society exists to embrace the different needs of all law students and generate a richer and more rewarding experience for them while they are at UOW. The society is run by a committee of elected students who offer their time, effort and energy on a completely voluntary basis. The LSS runs a number of annual law skills competitions, produces a number of annual publications, and organises networking events and professional seminars for UOW students undertaking a LLB degree or completing their PLT studies. The LSS represents UOW law students on the Faculty of Law Education & Advisory Committees as well as on the Faculty Committee. UOW law students' interests are also represented by LSS councillors at a national level, through the Australian Law Students' Association (ALSA).
Objectives and Vision We seek to embrace the different needs of all our members to generate a richer and more rewarding experience for them while they attend the University of Wollongong. The Law Students' Society's main objectives are to:
History The University of Wollongong Law Student's Society was formed in 1991. In that time the LSS has grown from an initial membership of twenty students to approximately three hundred students annually. Currently it is the largest society on campus. The Law Students' Society is a dynamic body of Wollongong law students who remain focused on the promotion of the legal profession in Australia. The range of degree choices for students is just one element that makes up the remarkable dynamics of the law student body. The University of Wollongong does not attract regional residents only, but students with a diverse range of backgrounds. Many students travel from Sydney City and Sydney's Southern suburbs, as well as nationally and internationally to study law at the University of Wollongong. The Law Students' Society has recognised the diversity of the student body and is continually looking to build active student participation in a range of areas from social activities through to professional goals and development.
Structure and Governance An elected executive and committee are responsible for management of the Law Students Society, as outlined in the LSS Constitution. If you have any questions or concerns relating to the structure and governance of the LSS please contact any member of the Executive. Members are welcome to attend our committee meetings*, which are held on a regular basis throughout semester. The LSS is currently in the process of Incorporating as an Association with the NSW Office of Fair Trading. * Please note that occassionally some items of business are marked Confidential and observers may be requested to leave the room while these items of business are discussed.

The LSS has a number of 'year representatives' and committee members who are more than happy to connect law students with the LSS executive, who can raise issues with the faculty.
