The UOW LSS would like to extend its thanks to all participating members of our SGM on Wednesday.

Some important constitutional changes were passed, enabling the Society to push forward with the long-term goal of incorporation. We are committed to seeing this through before the year's end.

 Without your ongoing support and involvement in such meetings we would be unable to continue providing services to our members of the quality and number that we do.

We look forward to a big year filled with MORE OPPORTUNITIES for YOU.

Burn the Movie

 The Law Students Society would like to extend a very warm thank you to June Rozen and Legal Aid NSW for presenting BURN on campus. For all those who did not have the opportunity to see the film, please have a look at it on the website: Burn the Movie Website.

Many a free lunch given and enjoyed for law students before and after class.

It is safe to say that the 2009 UOWLSS Masquerade Law Ball was a big success. Everyone in attendance looked spectacular. The UOWLSS would like to thank Andrew Haesler SC for an entertaining speech, and Mel Hore and Naomi Ugarenko for organising this fabulous event. We extend this thank you to Beth Waterfall and Bunmi Ogunbona for their assistance.

On the 10^th of August, 2009, UOW students and staff were given the privilege to attend a public lecture by the Rt Hon the Lord Walker of Gestingthorpe. Lord Walker, a QC and Law Lord in the UK, will be one of the first Justices of the newly established Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, as of October this year. This articulate, knowledgeable and gracious man exceeded our already high expectations with an interesting and entertaining lecture on Law Lords and the Human Rights Act. Despite some technical difficulties with the lighting in the lecture theatre, we hope that Lord Walker’s visit was positively memorable. I can safely say that all in attendance of his lecture found it informative, inspirational and an honour to hear his thoughts.
