Rio Tinto NTRB Scholarships

The Australian Government and Rio Tinto are once again offering two scholarships to lawyers currently working or interested in working at Native Title Representative Bodies (NTRBs) or Native Title Service Providers (NTSPs). 

Successful candidates will undertake a one-year Master of Laws (LLM) in Mineral Law and Policy at the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy (CEPMLP) at the University of Dundee and must commit to work within an NTRB or NTSP for a minimum period of two years upon their return. 

Candidates must be Australian citizens or permanent residents and reside in Australia and there is no age restriction for applicants.

FaHCSIA also provides an additional AU$15,000 towards the living expenses of those recipients of the scholarship who are working within the NTRB system at the time they receive the scholarship.

Applications open from Monday 22nd February through to Friday 19th March, 2010

Sydney Law Careers Fair

Your LSS - Connecting you with future employers.

The Sydney Law Careers Fair is fast approaching. This year, it will be held on Friday, 26 March at the Darling Harbour Convention Centre.

The 2010 Sydney Law Careers Fair will be a major event, showcasing major Australian and international law firms, non-legal firms offering alternative careers for law students, as well as other non-profit organisations.

The UOW LSS will be hiring a bus to transport a group of students to and from the Sydney venue.

Liberty & Society Conference 2010

The only Liberty and Society student conference for 2010 is going to be held in Sydney starting Friday evening April 30 to Sunday May 2. 

This conference is for people who are interested in discussing classical liberal ideas in an open and interested way.  The conference offers scholarships for those selected so everyone is able to apply to attend.

 As well as the always interesting sessions on Political Philosophy, Economics and Law, we are having a session on the ‘Economics of Climate Change’ with Professor Warwick McKibbin lecturing which will no doubt generate some energetic discussion.
